SVG - because it’s Scalable Vector Graphics!

The lead developer of Safari asks on his weblog: If you had to pick a W3C technology to implement next in WebCore, which one would you choose? Justify your answer. ;)

I think the single most obvious choice would be SVG.Vector graphics are the natural evolution of web publishing. It should have happened long ago, instead of GIF, which is just an atrocious sub-optimal replacement. GIF is so ugly and limited it’s a wonder it’s still used.

Let’s kill the GIFs. And Flash too, while we’re at it.
