Increasing the exposure level, even with one point, instantly wipes out the dark levels in the image. Steps to reproduce:
- Edit a photo in iPhoto. Open the Adjustments panel.
- Increase the Exposure by 1 point, either by clicking on the wider aperture control or by dragging the Exposure slider to the right.
Result: The darkest areas turn to black. Moving the slider back to 0 will NOT reset the colors. Note that the bug isn’t triggered when the slider is first moved to the left.

Notice how the darker details vanish, and how the leftmost part of the chart is cut off.
This bug makes the whole iPhoto retouching feature unusable for me. My iPhoto retouching tool is the sweet and obsolete PixelNhance, available for free from the now defunct Caffeine Software.
