Yeah, that thing about that MS mouse…
So I went to Darty for a fix, and they were nice enough to replace the mouse with a brand new one. That was a surprise, considering that the original packaging, manual and CD are on the way to some fancy recycling area heaven.
Meet the new mouse… same as the old mouse. The middle button _works_ the same way, that is once every 2-3 clicks. However, upon further inspection, I discovered what I presume to be a different way to use that button. Because the middle-click is also a tilt wheel — used for horizontal scroll — it is supposed to be clicked in a different way. You are not supposed to push it down, but slightly forward and down. The shape of the mouse is actually suited to this very unsuitable way to click.
The mouse is not broken by build, but by design.
Yes it’s weird, but it will eventually grow into me. I already get 3 out of 4 middle-clicks right, if I stop for a second and _aim_ for it. My hands are already crippled by the PowerBook-in-the-bus, the Logitech MX900 heavy-lifting and the DS hammering, so this will just accelerate the occurrence of the medical leave for carpal tunnel syndrome.

Thank you! I could never figure out why I couldn’t consistently get the orbit tool to come up in Google Sketchup. Now I am getting it 3 out of 4 times like you…better than 1 out of 10 previously I guess.
