Been using Mac and Windows PC’s in parallel for the past 10 years or so. It’s been 5 or 6 years since my primary machine is a Mac.
For the first time in all these years, a PC made me want to switch back to god-damned Windows. Not in the way other nice looking PC’s made me think If I ever have to use Windows, it’ll be one of these. No, this is the real deal. If I had to buy a computer right now, it would one of be these:
It’s a Sony Vaio UX, a full-featured PC the size of a bible. With full-featured, I mean:
- Runs the full-blown MS Windows XP and is Vista ready;
- Intel Core Solo, 1GB RAM, 40GB HDD;
- 4.5” wide 1024×600 touch-screen display;
- WAN, WiFi and Bluetooth;
- Built-in MemoryStick (for my K750) and CF reader (for my DSLR);
- Two built-in camera, microphone;
- Integrated 64 keys qwerty backlit keyboard and some sort of TrackPoint;
- USB, iLink, VGA, S-video, Ethernet, sound in-out;
- Biometric fingerprint sensor;
- Docking station.
A colleague has one, and I was hooked as soon as I tried it on. OMFG, I’ve been waiting for this my entire life! So what if it runs Windows? I hear there are millions of people out there running Windows, and some never touched a Mac. And they are happy. I shit you not, that’s what I hear.
Let’s cool off a little here. I’ll wait and see what Apple has in store for Macworld 2007 before I make a decision. Unless Santa buys me a UX.

Alex, dar scuterul asta are patru locuri si e tractiune 4×4. Plus ca e mai scump decat un Audi :-)

Macworld, cool. O sa fie şi în Paris? O sa mergi? Aş putea găsi undeva filmare sau transmisie? Eventual arhivă cu filmări (în afară de ce este la youtube.com).
Despre Apple, este o grămadă de vorbăraie că lansează iPhone la anu în martie - aprilie şi se întreabă lumea dacă o să-l prezinte la Macworld. Cică o să fie telefon, mediaplayer şi o sa aiba “PDA-like capabilities” (zice pe noheat.com).
