I just found myself daydreaming and configuring the most expensive machine on Apple’s web site. Some 14 years ago, in ‘92, I was doing this with the price listing in the romanian PC World magazine. That was long before I got my first PC, a 386, and even longer before I knew what to do with it. Back in ‘96, I was playing with the Gateway2000’s online configurator, the first such tool on the web IIRC. In fact, I never stopped doing the nerdy calculations…
Here’s what came up when I blindly maxed-out the configuration on a new Mac Pro:
- Deux processeurs quadricœurs Intel Xeon 3 GHz
- 16 Go (8 x 2 Go)
- ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512 Mo (deux DVI double liaison)
