This is a workaround for Mac+Eclipse problem that others may encounter, and the internets didn’t reveal it when I searched for it.
If a file type is associated with an external Mac application, double clicking the file or selecting Contextual Menu » Open With will return an error message like:
Unable to open external editor /Applications/jEdit 4.2/jEdit.app (/Applications/jEdit 4.2/jEdit.app). Reason: Error opening external editor (/Applications/jEdit 4.2/jEdit.app).
This occurs with both Carbon and Cocoa apps.
The workaround is to drag and drop the file to the application’s icon in the Dock or in the Finder. That’s it.
There is an explanation and another workaround that works better but it’s not instant, right here.
