Flock Off! (2)
April 24th, 2008 · EN, Geeky
I gave Flock another try, and I still find it quite cool, but not ready for prime time.
Its blog editor ate my blog post about the blog editor, which sucks, recursively.
The other features are all a great idea but just don’t work as well as expected. Maybe in another year or two I’ll try it again and it will blow my mind.
[Update: Ive found the post, it's here! When it was edited in Flock, it was saved without a publishing date. I considered it lost, but it was only tucked away on ...January 1st, 1970.]
Flock Off!

It’s been a while since I’ve first tried the Flock blog client, so I’m giving it a whirl again.
Can’t find the categories anywhere.
Scratch that (can’t find the html tags or strikeout commands) the categories are displayed when I hit the Publish button. Interesting. Can’t select a Primary category. Categories are not remembered when editing a post.
Overall, it’s a pretty lame replacement for MarsEdit and nothing like MS Live Writer.

Conf Call On Your Phone! NOW!
April 23rd, 2008 · EN, Geeky
The other day I was talking to someone on my mobile phone, when I received another incoming call. So I just put on hold the first call to take on the second. Nothing fancy so far…
What is this shiny new Merge button that just popped up on the screen? Meeerge! Too tempting, I just had to push it. As expected, I was now in a conference call, and managed to annoy both my interlocutors. Excellent.
This way I (re)discovered that every mobile phone can be used as a 3-way conference call system. I remember my first mobile (an Ericsson brick) phone had this feature, and it was 10+ years ago.
I talked to a few colleagues about this, it was news to them too and they find it very useful.
Why isn’t this awfully useful feature common knowledge is beyond me.
